Check for recalled models at www.recalls.gov before registering.
Don't be afraid to request practical items. You can ask for all the little things you need, like breast pads, pacifiers, baby
bottle liners, and baby body wash.
Do your homework. For example, test-drive strollers in the store before you put a particular model on your registry.
Don't be afraid to ask for big-ticket items like a crib, a changing table, or a stroller. Friends may want to chip in as a
group.
Register at more than one store so that gift givers have lots of options. And consider registering online at a site like Amazon.com.
Gift givers

Stick to the baby registry. But if you don't, enclose a gift receipt in case of duplicates.
Or go far off-list by buying products babies can grow into, such as a toddler table-and-chairs set. Just make sure the new
parents have room to store them.
Don't buy designer duds. Babies will wear them only a few times before they outgrow them.
Don't nix necessities. Take all those diaper wipes, breast pads, and milk storage bags and put them in a wicker basket wrapped
in cellophane with a bow on top. Nice!
