2008 Acura TL 3.2 Auto 2008 Acura TL 3.2 Auto
$500 sales incentives (expires July 7)

The Acura TL is among the highest-scoring sedans we've tested. It is one of a few models in this class that provides a near-ideal blend of comfort, convenience, and some sportiness, all at a reasonable price. The 258-hp, 3.2-liter V6 is very quick yet attains respectable fuel economy at 23 mpg overall. Interior quality is impressive and visibility excellent. The $500 in dealer incentives is available through the July 4 weekend. A new TL is expected to go on sale this fall.

$640 sales incentives (expires Sept. 30)

Buyers can take off $640 on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck until Sept. 30th. This Consumer Reports Top Pick achieves a nice balance between work attributes and livability. It includes a generous payload rating, a comfortable ride, improved interior quality and steering feel, and easy access. We appreciate the selectable full-time 4WD and electronic stability control is standard on all crew-cab models.

2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 LTZ 4WD Crew Cab SWB 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 LTZ 4WD Crew Cab SWB
$640 sales incentives (expires Sept. 30)

The heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is designed for towing and hauling; ride comfort and handling are not its strong suits. The ride is stiff and handling clumsy, but predictable. The payload rating is generous at 2,200 pounds. The diesel version returned 13 mpg overall and is quicker than the gas version. The LTZ trim level has a nicely finished interior. Buyers can save $640 on the Silverado 2500 pickup truck until Sept. 30th.

2008 Volvo S60 2.5T 2008 Volvo S60 2.5T
$2,500 sales incentives (expires July 7)

The S60 is a nice car, but for its class is neither luxurious nor sporty. The 2.5-liter turbocharged engine is quick and handling is secure. The front seats are comfortable and the interior is quiet, but the rear seats are cramped. Expect 22 mpg overall. The S60 has received very good scores in government side-impact and insurance-industry crash tests. There is currently a $2,500 sales incentive through July 7.

How this information can help you get the best price

The key to getting the lowest price on a car is to know how much negotiating room you have. That means knowing all of the current sales incentives, including behind-the-scenes dealer perks. That information is what makes the CR Bottom Line Price the best place to begin your new-car negotiations. It's calculated by subtracting any rebates, dealer incentives, or holdback amounts from the dealer-invoice price. That gives you a good idea of how much negotiating room you have below the car's sticker price. Armed with those figures, you can often save thousands of dollars when buying a new car. Get the CR Bottom Line Price on your next new car through Consumer Reports' New Car Price Reports.
