RIK PAUL

Automotive Editor

As Consumer Reports' Automotive Editor, Rik is responsible for automotive editorial content in all of CR's outlets, including Consumer Reports magazine, ConsumerReports.org, and CR's special automotive buying guides and newsstand publications. With David Champion, Rik co-wrote Consumer Reports' 384-page Smart Buyer's Guide to Buying or Leasing a Car and has appeared on many TV and radio shows, from NBC Nightly News to CNN's American Morning.

Rik is a 25-year veteran of the automotive publishing field, having served as Motor Trend's Senior Feature Editor for nine years in Los Angeles and, in earlier days, writing several do-it-yourself repair manuals for Haynes Publications. He has driven a myriad of vehicles in places ranging from Borneo and Morocco to above the Arctic Circle (in four countries), and has participated in events ranging from a winter circumnavigation of Iceland to the Baja 1000. A native of New Jersey, Rik has also taught mountaineering and also enjoys photography, travel, and exploring new places--especially in a great car.
