CR Model Summary
In our testing of the previous-generation M3 we were impressed by its agile handling and virtually nonexistent body roll. At its limits in fast corners, the M3 had excellent balance and strong grip. The ride was stiff but tolerable, and the 3.2-liter six-cylinder was very smooth. For 2008 the new M3 will be based on the current-generation 3 Series. It will feature, for the first time, a V8 powerplant to compete with the V8 performance sedans from Audi and Mercedes-Benz. A convertible and four-door sedan will also be offered. Six-speed manual and automated-manual gearboxes will be offered.
