Based on the X5 SUV, the new X6 just went on sale. It features standard all-wheel drive. BMW calls this a sports activity coupe because it seats only four and is taller than traditional coupes. Most versions are powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder. A new 4.4-liter V8 is also offered. The all-wheel-drive system can vary the torque from side to side to minimize understeer, similar to the system in the Acura MDX and RDX. It will later be available with a hybrid powerplant mated to a continuously variable transmission.
