Nissan Versa

Nissan Versa
CR Model Summary
Nissan's entry-level car is available as a hatchback or sedan. It packs an impressively roomy rear seat, and the tall roof line allows easy access. The 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine is relatively refined, but needs to be revved to deliver power. The standard six-speed manual is a bit clunky, and a continuously variable transmission is optional. Fuel economy is good, but not a standout at 28 mpg for the CVT. The ride is relatively comfortable and quiet, but handling isn't particularly agile. Curtain air bags are standard, but cars with the optional antilock brakes can be difficult to find. First-year reliability has been average.
Highs
Ride, rear seat, quiet and posh interior, hatchback versatility, access, smooth CVT (automatic), crash-test results.
Lows
Braking and hard-to-find ABS, agility, middling fuel economy for class.
