This sport sedan has been one of GM's more notable successes. The redesigned 2008 model includes a much nicer interior, a
new all-wheel-drive option, and a more powerful engine. The audio system includes a USB port that allows you to plug in an
MP3 player and have the tracks displayed on the car's touch screen, a handy addition. The base engine is the same 255-horsepower
V6 used in the outgoing model, but a new direct-injection version with 300 hp is available.
CR's take. As with the current CTS, we expect the redesigned model to provide agile handling and a supple ride, while the new interior
rectifies the previous car's fit-and-finish and ergonomic deficiencies. The safety belts, for example, now spool out from
the roof pillars instead of the seatbacks, a design we found uncomfortable.
