We also tested two of Chrysler’s redesigned minivans, the best selling
Dodge Grand Caravan and its twin, the
Chrysler Town & Country (available to subscribers). Both of these new 2008 models proved to be disappointing in our tests.
Although these new models are an improvement over those they replaced, they don’t measure up to better competitors such as
the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, Kia Sedona, or Nissan Quest (see the
Ratings, available to subscribers).
Our Grand Caravan and Town & Country Limited were priced at $33,950 and $38,390, respectively. We do not yet have reliability
data on these new models, so we can’t recommend them. For more details on our tests, see our
Chrysler minivans video.
Overall, minivans still remain a good choice for families. As a group, they provide roomy, versatile interiors, with relatively
decent fuel economy and handling.
The Sienna, however, is the only minivan that’s available with all-wheel drive, something all SUVs offer.
