Good tire, good price, some problems
Combined highway and city driving, I have 53,000 miles on the tires. I am surprised how long they have lasted. I got them new with the new car, a 2009 Saturn Aura, and given my experience with tires that usually come with new cars, I expected them to last only 20,000 miles. Maybe 40,000 at the most. But these seem to want to go for 60,000. The dry braking and handling are good. They are reasonably quiet and give me confidence on the highway. However, I had a couple of scary moments wet braking and even hydroplaning. I live in Florida so I don't know how they would handle on real ice, but here we have black ice. When our hot asphalt gets wet as it first starts to rail, the roadway get very slippery. I have skidded twice into the intersection doing just moderate braking. (In Florida, most go through yellow lights and no one panic stops for red.) Also, I hydroplaned through a deceptive puddle of water. My next set of tires won't be these because I want tires that do better in wet braking and hydroplaning. Also, they have only a B rating for temperature. In summer here the asphalt gets very HOT. My next set will have to be A rated for temperature. Also, after about 40,000 one tire got a nail and had to be replaced. And one tire now has a leak. All of them have crackly rubber, like dry rot. I will replace them before 60,000. I don't think I would recommend them. They are average to good, not excellent.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
