Comment:
These tires are so bad that they can be good in some ways. If you like to squeal your tires under acceleration, you can do that easily with this set of Nexens. If you like feeling the speed of your car, the atrocious ride quality and the high noise level of these tires will help you with that. If you're concerned about low tread life, don't be: the potholes will get your tires before the wear and tear will.

After destroying my third Nexen N7000 tire on one of NYC's ubiquitous potholes, I've had enough, and purchased a set of Continentals instead. I didn't realize how bad the Nexens were in pretty much every way until I got a set of decent tires.

Bought the tire Jan 2012 and the tread is already gone after 6k miles. I have never owned a tire that has gone so fast! Don't waste your money, there are other cheap tires out there that will last longer!

Comment:
I purchase my car used with the Nexen N7000's (which were new at that time). These tires were a non issue and I believe that they handle well on dry pavement. As far as wet pavement, I do experience slightly more hydroplaning than most tires I've owned but not significantly more. They weren't a concern until the first snow after about 6 months with the car. I've lived in rural Nebraska all 47 years of my life and drive on snow / ice without a second thought. These tires react as though there is zero tread, even on the slightest amount of snow or ice. Even on a totally flat surface these tires could not get enough grip to propel the car, much less allow me to maintain control in the direction of my wheels. At first I thought it might be the car since it was the first time in winter conditions with the (07) Mercury Milan. So I put a pair of Goodyear all seasons and had no snow / ice control issues. I did keep the tires since there's about 85% treadlife and I do use them in the summer with no problems. These tires arn't simply poor on snow and ice they are a serious safety concern. DO NOT CONSIDER PURCHASING IF YOU DRIVE ON SNOW OR ICE. Rating of 2 of 5 stars since they are adequate for summer driving.
