Technical Service Bulletins
Below, we highlight several key 'hidden' protections you may not be aware of, discovered through service campaigns and technical service bulletins. TSBs highlight common potential problems with models and provide corrective measures to dealerships. The items flagged below are of particular note, indicating a potential risk, and a potential correction, should you experience the specific issue. In some cases, an extended warranty may offer additional protection for a particular at-risk component.

Chevrolet Cruze

REDESIGN YEARS 2011

The Cruze has nine recalls and eight service campaigns/warranty extensions of note:

2011 models were subject to a recall to inspect/retighten the steering wheel fastener (11094), and to inspect/reinstall the intermediate steering shaft due to a manufacturing error (11149D).

2011 models with the 1.4-liter engine have a got service campaign to inspect the rear main crankshaft seal for an oil leak (11133); all models have a campaign to lubricate the strut assemblies, which might squeak below 35-degrees Fahrenheit (10381); and to reseal the right tail lamp weld, because not enough sealant was applied at the factory (10376).

2011-12 models were recalled to inspect for a missing weld to the fuel tank strap bracket attachments (12133A), and to modify an engine shield to prevent oil spills from causing a fire due to improper oil change procedures (12081B); and models with the 1.4-liter turbo and automatic were recalled to replace the brake vacuum micro switch (12213).

2012 models are subject to a recall to replace the steering wheel airbag coil spring due to an intermittent airbag warning light (12261A).

2012 models have a service campaign to inspect the driver-side air bag module to ensure retainers are fully engaged on the steering wheel (12015).

2012-13 models have a service campaign to update the OnStar software, since the automatic crash notification may not work (12187B).

2013 models have a service campaign to readjust the door handles, which may stick or bind (13125); and to replace the passenger side steering gear boot due to a clunking noise when turning (13101).

2013-14 models with the 1.4-liter engine were recalled to inspect/replace the right front half shaft due to the possibility of fracture and separation (14079E); and all Cruzes were recalled to replace the driver-side front air bag due to a manufacturing defect (14305).

2014 models were recalled to inspect/replace the shift cable adjuster, which could break, to an updated one (14048A).

2014 models have a service campaign to inspect/install the correct door switch since there might be incorrect power switch installed on the driver’s door (14036).
