The redesigned 2016 Cruze is roomier, especially in the rear seat, and gets better fuel economy than its predecessor. The standard 1.4-liter, four-cylinder turbo, mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, delivers effortless motivation. It has an unobtrusive stop-start feature designed to reduce fuel use when the car would otherwise be idling. We got 30 mpg overall. The new Cruze has a comfortable ride and a quiet cabin, and is designed more for relaxed cruising than sporty handling. A new infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, mirrors your cell-phone screen on the dashboard. A variety of advanced active safety features are available, unfortunately only on the top-trim Premier version.
