Technical Service Bulletins
Below, we highlight several key 'hidden' protections you may not be aware of, discovered through service campaigns and technical service bulletins. TSBs highlight common potential problems with models and provide corrective measures to dealerships. The items flagged below are of particular note, indicating a potential risk, and a potential correction, should you experience the specific issue. In some cases, an extended warranty may offer additional protection for a particular at-risk component.

2013-present

This generation has two recalls and three service campaigns of note:

2013 models were recalled to inspect/retighten the rear suspension bolts (13008A); to reprogram the airbag sensing and diagnostic module, which may reset itself following a hard braking event or over some road surfaces (12102); and models with the 2.5-liter engine were recalled to rework the wiring harness, since knock sensor connections reversed (12292A).

2013 ECO eAssist models have a service campaign to replace the generator control module (13142B), and to readjust the door handles, which may stick or bind (13125).

2014 models were recalled to inspect/replace the front brake rotors, which might be assembled with the wrong parts (14128A); to inspect/replace the shift cable adjuster, which could break, to an updated one (14048A); and, for models with the 2.5-liter engine with auto stop/start, to reprogram the electronic brake module (14201).

2004-07

This generation has two recalls and three service campaigns/warranty extensions of note:

2004-07 models were recalled to replace the automatic transmission shift cable, which is prone to fracture; these parts originally had a warranty extension to 10-yrs/120,000 miles (14152A).

2005 four-cylinder models had the warranty for the fuel tank cap extended to 10-yrs/120,000 miles (06190).

2005 models were recalled to replace the engine/power control module; a manufacturing defect could cause fuel pump issues (05539a).

2005-08 models had the warranty for the electric power steering assist extended to 10-yrs/150,000 miles (10183A).

2006-08 models with the four-cylinder engine, including the hybrid, had the warranty for the catalytic converter extended to 10-yrs/120,000 miles (10134C).

Service bulletins

2004-05 models with the 2.2-liter four-cylinder might need an updated intake manifold and PCV if there’s blue smoke on acceleration or engine oil consumption is more than 1 quart within 2,000 miles (05-06-01-003c); the V6 might need an updated serpentine belt to eliminate occasional squeal between 3,500-4,000 RPM (05-06-01-009b); the V6 might also need a revised exhaust resonator assembly if there’s a leak or pinging noise while the vehicle cools down (06-06-05-002); and some might need a revised front lower control arm if there’s increased steering effort in temperatures below 10-degrees Fahrenheit (05-02-32-001c).

2004-07 models may need an updated lower engine mount if there’s a wobble under moderate acceleration from a stop up to 30 mph (06-06-01-025).

2008-12

This generation has two recalls and two service campaigns/warranty extensions of note:

2008-09 hybrid models had the warranty for the catalytic converter extended to 10-yrs/120,000 miles (10134C).

2008-10 hybrid models were recalled to replace the batteries due to a condition that could cause voltage imbalance; the battery is originally covered under the 8-yr/100,000 miles powertrain warranty (10136A).

2008-10 models were recalled to install a retainer over the transmission shift cable end fitting; if the fitting tab is fractured, the dealer will replace the cable (12106C).

2010 models have a service campaign to replace the side air bag connectors to prevent an error message (11034).

Service bulletins

2008-09 four-cylinders might have an oil leak from the A/C compressor mounting bracket (08-06-01-017c).

2008-11 models may need separate wiring run for the radiator fan, since the connection might melt at the fuse block due to heavy current withdraw; it may require replacement of the fuse block as well. Symptoms are usually poor A/C performance or overheating. (11-01-38-002).
