Plastic fuel tank can crack and leak gasoline, posing fire hazard.
Products: 84,000 '01 and '02 model year snow throwers sold at Home Depot stores and via authorized Toro dealers nationwide. Recall
involves the following models and serial numbers:
- '02 Snow Commander, model 38600 (bearing serial numbers ranging from 220000001 through 220004072, and model 38602 (serial
numbers 220000001 through 220005931).
- '01 CCR model 38413 (serial numbers 210010001 through 210020990); model 38419 (serial numbers 210010001 through 210014725);
model 38440 (serial numbers 210010001 through 210015656); and model 38445 (serial numbers 210012082 through 210021964).
- '02; CCR model 38515 (serial numbers 220000001 through 220013743); model 38516 (serial numbers 220000001 through 220008930)
model 38517 (serial numbers 220000001 through 220010910); and model 38518 (serial numbers 220000210 to 220015932).
Model and serial numbers appear on rear of axle plate between the wheels. This recall is an extension of an earlier one, in
March 2003, involving 3,400 snow throwers and 29 reports of leaking fuel tanks. Since that time, there have been 882 additional
reports of fuel tanks leaking. No fires of injuries have been reported.
What to do: Contact your local authorized Toro Service Dealer to find out if snow thrower is subject to recall. If it is, the dealer
