Consumers Union awards won: 1989-1980

1989
· Consumer Reports was selected as a Finalist in the National Magazine Award for Personal Service journalism. The NMA is sponsored by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME).
1987
· Consumer Reports received a First Place National Press Club Award for the Best Consumer Journalism of 1986.
· Consumer Reports received the National Magazine Award for outstanding achievement in the category of Personal Service, sponsored by ASME.
· Consumer Reports was awarded First Place from the National Press Club Award in the large-magazine category for "the best consumer journalism of 1986." This award was given for a three-part series on life insurance, written by Trudy Lieberman.
1986
· Consumer Reports won a Page One Award from the Newspaper Guild of New York for its May 1985 story on health fraud. The Guild gives Page One awards each year in eight categories. CR won in the Crusading Journalism category, magazine division.
1985
· Consumer Reports was selected as a finalist in the category of Service to the Individual from the National Magazine Awards, sponsored by ASME.
1984
· Consumer Reports received the Science Writers Award for magazines from the American Dental Association. This award is given to publishers who broaden and deepen the public understanding of dental disease, dental treatment and dental research.
1980
· Consumer Reports series on arthritis won a magazine-writing award in the Arthritis Foundation's annual Russell L. Cecil Arthritis Writing Awards program. The two-part report published in June and July 1979 was on "The Mistreatment of Arthritis" and "The Proper Treatment of Arthritis."
