FINANCIAL PRIVACY NOW is an advocacy program of Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports. Right now, it's legal for banks,
insurance companies and credit card companies to trade and sell your personal information without your consent. Far too many
strangers know your name, address, social security number, salary, mortgage, debts, and other sensitive information. This
encourages crimes like identity theft and credit fraud. Consumers Union is fighting to give consumers more control over their
personal financial information.
