Since 1936, Consumer Reports has represented your interests as a consumer while fighting to ensure a safe and fair marketplace. For generations, we’ve taught consumers about the best products and services on the market, warned against overpriced, faulty, and hazardous goods and exposed those companies that are more concerned with profit than consumer safety and satisfaction.

In 1953, our engineers measured the nicotine and tar content of cigarettes. Our reports were the only source of such data for consumers. In 1973, we gave our entire test group of microwave ovens a rating of Not Recommended because their radiation leakage concerned us. In 2012, we released investigative stories warning consumers about the presence of arsenic in widely consumed food and beverages.
