Comment:
It performs it main functions perfectly, and it can connect to a network, to stream music and movies. With a couple more streaming options, the Oppo would be the perfect streaming device (although you can get the ROKU stick to expand these options, at a discounted price, directly from Oppo.)
The only con I would say is the wireless connection, which is not as good as in other devices I tested from the same location. I have mine wired, so that is not a problem.
CR's features are incomplete. The Oppo has two HDMI inputs (not one. )Also, if you want, you can use both HMDI outputs, to send audio and video signals separately.
Finally, the looks of this device, if that concerns you, screams quality. The packaging is excellent.

Comment:
I bought the device because my DVR had problems streaming NetFlix, a capability that is included with the Oppo. I connected it to my router via coax (as was my DVR) and that problem vanished. What really impresses me is the improvement in the audio/visual aspects of my system. I have an eight-year-old Panasonic plasma and a sound system which I bought at the same time for around $1000. I am no longer considering replacing any of it.

The manual is extensive and complex, and you should read it, but it barely slowed me down.

I am sure that the first time you watch and listen to a concert Blu-Ray, you will forget about the price.

I have owned a Sony DVD player (very good) and used the PS3 for blue-ray, but after a while I wanted a dedicated blue-ray player. I started my reseach with Consumer Reports (as always) and after reading their views I headed to the User Review section, which has helped me numerous times in avoiding a product that tests well, but doesn't last. Most of the reviews mentioned downsides to some of the players and one mentioned that nothing exceeded his Oppa. I had never heard of the brand and when I started seaching Home Theater sites I ran across stellar reviews. All of the reviews mentioned how a standard DVD would look almost as good as a blu-ray disk and I have found that to be true. Granted a blu-ray disk is still superior, but older DVD's have never looked better. I've owned my Oppa for three years with no problems and I've been very happy with it and would recommend it(just bite the bullet on the price). My TV is a plazma Panasonic 52 inch after they came out with their upgraded products.
