Comment:
I have the 103D model which has Darbee picture enhancement built in. It is great. It also costs $100 more. If you're going to spend $500 on a blu-ray player, you might as well spend $600. It's only money and life is short. I was using a $400 Sony that was about 5 years old before the OPPO. My picture and sound are both noticably better now. The thing I like that I use the most is the rear HDMI in jack. I can plug my 1080i Direct TV signal into it and it comes out the other end 1080p. It has made my regular TV watching blu-ray quality. That alone makes it worth the money. The review by consumer reports failed to mention that. This is worth every penny. Buy it! I can't think of anything negative to say about it.

Comment:
I use the Oppo equally for both home theater and music. The video is the crispest and smoothest of any sources I've displayed on my plasma TV. Music is wonderful, no need for a separate upgraded CD player which some might otherwise want for quality.

Lots of settings to tweak. If I didn't have an updated receiver, I'd definitely use more of the Oppo's settings to process the audio to my liking.

The Options feature for audio is handy. Some tracks sound better depending on the option selected.

I'd love more built-in apps for streaming; amazon.com is noticeably absent. It would be great if Oppo could incorporate Roku rather than adding on the stick (firmware upgrade, please!). This is not a deal-killer and not unique to Oppo; it seems all products offer different streaming choices.

Hookups are adequate for what I do. I run all sources through an AVR anyway. The on-screen display and options offered are easy to use, with explanations of the functions on screen. Nevertheless, you can just hook it up, turn it on and get great output.

Oppo is heavy, solid, and even the hefty remote is well built unlike the flimsy remotes that come with most products. The drawer is likewise not flimsy. The remote can be backlit by pressing a button when you want it.

The quality of audio and video in one package defines the Oppo.

Comment:
Great as a SACD player or music only player. Standard DVDs are upconverted without too much pixilation. Worth the money if it was only used for audio, video is a bonus
