We watch a DVD every evening. Bought this player because our older Sony DVD player had been reliable but lacked Blu-Ray. This player started freezing up occasionally, made ratcheting sound, would not respond to buttons until powered down and disk started over. Disks played fine in older DVD player so I determined this player is defective. Also cabinet is not stable on small narrow base, pushing buttons on top tends to make cabinet flop around & buttons are hard to see, poor design.

Comment:
Netflix streaming, and playing Netflix DVDs. I used to run the DVDs in my laptop. DVDs with stickers and occasionally damaged, I worried that I might damage the expensive superdrive DVD/CD burner. The Sony BluRay player costs half the price of a replacement SuperDrive. <br />NetFlix streaming runs great. <br />I probably save almost an hour a week I used to spend searching for the particular USB cable and adapter.... <br />(I had bought a Samsung HD player 4 years ago--haven't seen a BluRay disk in 3 years 10 months. The Sony is a major improvement.) Highly recommended.
