About This Brand

This flash-memory-card maker, which introduced its first MP3 player in 2004, continues to introduce a full line of players.  Not surprising, most of its Sansa line of players have card slots for expanding storage capacity using SanDisk’s microSD cards.

Sansa Fuze MP3 Player...
12/26/2008
Strength
Nice, bright screen. Good sound quality. Good features packed in a small form factor. Micro-SDHC expansion slot.
Weakness
Headphone jack at bottom may be inconvenient for some. Fingerprint magnet.
I bought this little MP3 player b/c my last one died. And so far, it has quite surprised me, positively. The form factor of the player is small and has nice bright, clear screen that allows fairly easy navigation and views for information regarding tracks and options. It utilizes a scroll wheel and works just almost similar to that on the infamous iPods that are so popular, but imho, overpriced. The wheel on the sansa works fine for me and is easy to navigate. The meat of the player is the sound, which I would rate as above average in my personal experience, especially when driven with some quality earphones. The EQ feature is also quite nice to fine tune the sound to your liking. Video is also an option, although I haven't loaded any of my personal videos on the player. But watching some of the pre-installed MVs on the players was not a problem, although the screen is a bit small to watch anything over 20-30 mins in length.Music transfer can be handled via media player or winamp or probably any other music based manager. I use winamp personally, and have had zero problems getting my music from my computer to the Sansa. What is a major seller for me is the microSDHC expansion slot. While the internal memory is decent, the expansion slot allows me to easily and cheaply double or triple the amount of space of files, which is awesome. The only gripe I'd have about this player would be that it's a fingerprint magnet and that the headphone jack is located at the bottom of the player, which is a bit odd and takes some getting use to. But neither are too big of a deal. At the price you can get this, it's a great value and a very good MP3/media player that should satisfy all but the very picky technophiles.

Weakness
None so far
I compared the Sansa Fuze to the iPod Nano and bought the Fuze. I'm glad I did. The Fuze costs less, has an FM radio (reception in my area is great), and it works with Windows Media Player. I have loaded 600+ songs and several videos (via the free Sansa Media Converter software). The download process has been flawless. The sound is good and has an equalizer to adjust the tremble, bass, etc. to your liking. I am very happy with my purchase.

One of the best MP3 players I've ever seen

Strength
Good user interfacenice displaylightFM tuner & voice recorderexpandable memory
Weakness
not an ipodUI a little clunky in places
Overall, I'm thrilled with this: Sound is excellent, it's very easy to use, very light and at least apparently sturdy. All the features you could want, including an FM tuner (great for gyms where they broadcase TV audio channels on FM). Very much like an ipod nano at half the price. I love that you can add in an 8gb (maybe 16?) SDHC card for little money. Overall, I like this better than the ipod nano.
