Comment:
I bought a Nikon 3100 about 8 months ago. I bought 3 lenses up to 200 mm. It is a great camera but you have to lug around a large back pack for all the lenses. The SX 50 eliminates all the lenses. The zoom is incredible. Just focus in on the moon and you will see why. The craters actually come to life! My Nikon is now gathering dust. For vacations and travel I truly don't think you can beat this camera. Yes you can not put it in your pocket, but most of us have a cell phone for those quickie shots. This camera bridges the gap for serious travel photos that are best shot with a zoom lens.

I have used a Canon product for years, going back to the 35mm AE1 in the 80's. I almost broke down and bought the Rebel T3i but a friend had purchased an sx40 for his trip to China and his pictures were amazing. I purchased the SX 50 when they came out, and have nothing but good things to say about it. The zoom capablity is amazing and I was able to use a mini tripod and capture close-up a couple 800 meters away para-sailing. Without changing lenses and zooming in with amazing clarity. I love the hot shoe and it works very well for receptions.
