About - Kodak PULSE 7"

The Kodak PULSE 7" is part of the digital picture frame test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, digital picture frame models like the PULSE 7" are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Picture quality:
Picture quality includes image clarity, color accuracy, and contrast. It's based mainly on the judgments of a panel who viewed photographs on each device, as well as lab measurements including viewing angle.

Viewing angle:
Viewing angle indicates the quality of images when viewed from 45 degrees of the center line both horizontally and vertically. This is important if you are standing above the frame and looking down, sitting at an angle to the frame, or sitting with the frame positioned above you. Viewing angle is calculated into the picture quality score.

Versatility:
Versatility mainly includes characteristics that aid in versatility and convenience. Those include the presence of hardware and menu-based navigation features. Also considered are the number of memory-card and USB slots; built-in memory; brightness, color, and contrast controls; removable picture frames and any extra frames included; audio and video playback; audio and video connections; PC-to-device image transfer speeds; number and duration of slideshow timings; the ability to delete images; and handling of non-compatible image formats.

I got this for Mother's Day and have it on my counter. It has its own email making it easy to send pics from cell phones to the frame. I am not too computer literate but this is easy to use. I too, like it when pics just appear from others. I'm getting these for family for Christmas gifts.

Comment:
We recieved this from our in-laws and they have sent us updated photo's on our neice's & nephew's. The Kodak PULSE is fun to watch and all of a sudden see new photo's from relatives appear on the screen while watching tv or something. It's kind of like dropping a Hello to family. I have downloaded a bunch of my photo's of past trip's and scenery. This is a must for families who live far apart and don't get to see one another that often.

Comment:
The content and behavior ( time on and off, transition slide show type, and photo library) are customizable through kodak web site. Very straightforward to use. I bought two gifts, one for my wife and one for my adult daughter who lives away. Snap a shot with the iphone and email it straight to each others frame. It automagically appears in fame minutes later. I bought three different model frames to carefully review each one; the kodak pulse was the obvious choice for me. This unit may not be as big 7- or as sharp (its really very sharp) as the highest rated here, but the real world way kodak supports the web site library makes this frame a stand out because of its support system. I can set it to go on and off at preset times from my ipad without getting off the couch. Can your frame do that?
