Comment:
This laptop has a number of major drawbacks.

It is unreliable, as it will just power off now and then.

Dell INSISTS it is a software issue, and instructs me to reset my computer to factory conditions – ALL MY DATA and PROGRAMS gone. That is NOT a solution. In fact, this is ALWAYS their solution to EVERYTHING every time I called for service, about 6 times. After that, I gave up. They REFUSE to admit any problems with the unit. The service people end up sounding like parrots – It's a software issue, it's a software issue, it's a software issue. Braaawwkkk.

I have had crazy cursor repositioning when typing, and that is SO AGGRAVATING. Again, It's a software issue, it's a software issue, it's a software issue.

The dell dock at the top of the screen will not disappear automatically. I have to click something in it and then click somewhere else.

The function key replacements for multimedia control show their status sometimes on the screen and sometimes not. It is intermittent.

Dell got rid of the [BREAK] key, so [CTRL][BREAK] is not possible, which is necessary to stop some programs.

Comment:
Have had problems with the unit crashing and cursor moving when typing. This is very annoying. Dell refuses to make good on this computer. Each time I call they run me through the same steps, but refuse to admit there's flawa with this computer.

Comment:
I have had a major problem with the cursor moving to another line in the middle of typing something. This is really time consuming when you are trying to work and have to redo what you've just typed. The laptop has also randomly disconnected from my work network causing me to lose work. I know of 5 other people that have the same problem with their Dell Inspiron laptops, yet Dell tech service claims it is not a common problem.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
