Cons
Defective Blue Printhead

Comment:
Printer worked fine until I had to change ink cartridge. Printer then gave printer failure message and/or ink cartridge problem. I found a Youtube video describing that both the 6600 and 6700 had defective blue printheads with gold pins. The pins got bent when changing cartridge. Printer was unusable after that. HP failed to help me and accept faulty part. The following is link to explanation of defect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4CSzF7Wjxs

I called customer service and they wanted me to buy another printer. I told them that I think that I purchased a color cartridge that was defective, and after one half hour on the phone she agreed. I ask her to send me just the one color and she said that she could not do that, but that I needed to take it back to the store and buy the replacement cartridges and see if it worked after that. I then told her that I do not use this printer that often and it should still be operational. Basically she said that is my problem, thus I am looking at competitors products. My last 8 or 9 printers over the last 15 years have been HP, but that is changing.

We bought our HP Officejet 6700 Premium for personal + business use as we wanted a reliable color printer. At first this machine seemed to get the job done. Printed very quickly. Easy to set up. Has great wireless capabilities -- all of which we loved.

But when we replaced ink cartridges it stopped working. Figured it might be the ink so we tried another package (and another). Nope. Same discolored printing each time.

So we bought another HP Officejet 6700 Premium because we thought we might have had a dud machine the first time.

This second one worked for a month or two longer than the first, but we're having the same color ink issues again. Doesn't print correct colors even though all the settings are correct and the self-test comes out right.

Another complaint we've had is the printer invariably runs a self-diagnostic in the middle of a print job. What in the world? So you have to sit there and do not turn off the machine at this time until it's good and ready to get back to printing the items in the queue.

Sure, it's a handy size, prints quickly, and scans great -- but who wants a machine they can't rely on to give good, quality printing every time?

Not us.
