Bought this with a new computer in December, 2013, as they were offering it cheaper than anyone else and it had all the features I was looking for plus some I wasn't.<br />The initial setup was not intuitive but, after a false-start I got everything working fine. The printer is not in the same room as the computer since I wanted it to be easily accessible to everyone in the household and this was the way it was setup and configured for use with all the computers here. I did the wifi setup and then setup on each computer (Macs) with the HP software. Lastly was the iPhones (4s & 5) & (older) iPads.<br />No problems printing, even thought it might be weeks between jobs.<br />Scanning is great -- double-sided scanning is possible through the software on your computer: it was easy and flawless. You can scan to SD cards, over wifi to Mac and to email via ePrint -- I've used them all and they work great. Uses separate color carts so you can replace ONLY the black is at runs out.<br />No strange noises. No periods of inability to use do to any weirdness. No problems at all to speak of. After having signed up for the ePrint I was concerned about more spam but that hasn't happened either. The only feature we don't use is the various printables that HP offers through their service (coupons, coloring things for kids, newspapers) -- though I did print the weather out once.<br />I would recommend this to my mother if she needed a new printer.

Comment:
The software is completely unreliable and HP cannot support it. Without the software, the printer is little more than a boat anchor. I guarantee that you will regret this purchase! Go check the Hp user forum, there are comments about all there printers not being installable and few resolutions. I would not only not recommend this to friend, but probably not to an enemy.

It took a lot of getting used to, and although the LCD screen was nice, it didn't give all the answers I needed. It does NOT print custom size greeting cards and envelopes. I had to manually figure out how to make the front; then the back; then the inside of the card, dividing it visually in to two, with a drawing on the left and text on the right. The front and the back had to be printed separately. With the inside, it was fooled into thinking I was printing 3 separate pieces of standard size paper. I now use store bought greeting cards. But Wait...it gets worse... I received a beautiful photo online, and I went to print it out on a standard sheet of glossy paper with the best settings. It came out looking like modern art blobs! I will have to buy a new printer, but the prospects do not look too good. I am extremely unhappy with this printer. As to the question below, I would not even recommend this printer to an enemy.
