Bought this about three months ago as a partial replacement for an HP all-in-one. I work from a home office 95% of the time, and require reliable, cost effective equipment. Tired of replacing inkjets every couple of years and the high cost of ink, I decided to replace the all in one with two small machines; this laserjet for everyday printing of documents I need to refer to continuously for various projects, and a color all in one for scanning, faxing and printing of color documents. While I'm unhappy with the Epson WF 2530 inkjet, this Brother Laserjet has been a winner for me.<br />Pros<br />* Compact<br />* Fast<br />* Easy wireless setup<br />* Low priced <br />* Duplexer works flawlessly and saves paper<br />Cons<br />* Starter toner cartridge lasted about 630 pages, and streaked for the last 50.<br />I bought a genuine Brother replacement toner cartridge that installed easily and now have excellent print quality once again. The needs toner button flashes long before the toner plays out, and found a couple of tricks online that bear repeating:<br />* Pressing the Go button seven times in row resets the toner warning (you might want to make sure you have a new cartridge ready to go, as you'll need one in a few hundred pages.)<br />* Pressing Go 3 times prints out a status report that, among other things, tells you how many pages the device has printed, and the remaining life of both the drum unit and the toner cartridge.

Worked fine on the 1st cartridge
Flimsy Construction
Pricey Replacement Ink
Best Uses
Worked great on the first cartridge. Toner light came on and I went and bought a Brother brand replacement and it now prints horizontal globs of black on left and right margins, mostly on the right. Troubleshooting says to clean the drum. Did that and it had no effect. This is the second Brother printer I've had that lasted less than a year. I'm going to HP.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The printer worked great for a year. The prints looked fine until the printer insisted daily I HAD to replace the cartridge even though no streaking was occurring. When I didnt replace the cartridge it then refused to print. I guess it got into a bad mood.
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
