Comment:
I use e-set on my home PC. It was easy to set up, and I adjusted it so that it works pretty much on its own without interfering with the programs that I am running. It lets me know when there is a problem (like needed updating for Microsoft) and provides a direct link. I believe it can be set up for more user involvement, but I like to be left out of it. Customer Service is good, but I really didn't need it too often.

The security suite is used on three home computers -- two desktops and a laptop. Both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version are in use, and there does not seem to be any difference in performance between them. The suite has detected and blocked malware attempts and virus downloads from the web. When browsing, it retains a list of known virus/malware sites, and will alert you if you try to open one.

A particularly helpful feature is when one is on a secure page and entering sensitive information, such a credit card. ESET checks that the transmission of the data is being sent securely. Several times it has alerted that while the page is secure, the data would be sent in unsecure format, allowing us to cancel the send.

As with most security packages, some sluggishness can occasionally be detected when ESET is running a full scan of the computer. However, when simply monitoring, there is no detectable impact of computer speed.
