About - Samsung UN55ES6500

The Samsung UN55ES6500 is a 55-inch LCD HDTV with a native resolution of 1920x1080 (1080p). This TV has a 3D mode that requires the use of special glasses to see three-dimensional images. It has edge-mounted LED backlighting. That allows the panel to be extremely thin and also uses less energy than conventional fluorescent backlighting. Rather than the basic 60Hz, it has a faster 120Hz frame rate, a feature designed to reduce motion blur.

This model is Internet-enabled and can access online content, including streaming movie services. It has an Ethernet jack for connecting to your home network via a cable. This TV is also Wi-Fi-capable, so you can connect it to your home network wirelessly. Its DLNA certification enables you to view digital photos stored on a compatible computer, phone, or other mobile device also connected to your home network.

There are 4 HD-capable inputs: 3 HDMI and 1 component-video, which can also be used as composite-video. It also has 2 USB ports, which may allow you to plug in a thumb drive or memory card reader so you can play the stored photos, videos, and music on the TV.

The Samsung UN55ES6500 measures 31.7 inches high by 49.4 inches wide by 10.8 inches deep, including its base. The panel itself is 1.8 inches thick including any protrusions, and the screen has a glossy finish. The bezel framing the screen is gloss black with clear border.

The warranty on this TV covers parts/labor for 12/12 months, respectively. Related models in this series include the UN32ES6500, UN40ES6500, UN46ES6500, UN50ES6500, UN60ES6500, UN65ES6500.

About This Brand

Samsung is a market leader and top-tier TV manufacturer. It is often an innovator, as with its use of LED backlighting in LCD TVs, and was one of the first TV brands to offer 3D TVs and Smart TVs. Samsung offers a wide range of LCD TVs and is one of only a few brands that still sells plasma TVs. Its TVs are distributed widely in national and regional retailers, and in mass-market and discount outlets. In addition to LCD and plasma TVs, Samsung also sells DLP-based home theater front projectors.

Comment:
It's a great TV, internet/smart TV section needs much improvement but, overall I'm happy with it. I enjoy watching Youtube videos on the TV. The youtube app is not that good, it is not the same as the PC version, it gives a very limited selection of videos using the search bar and the same videos always come up on the search even though there are thousands of videos depending on the topic and the wireless keyboard can not be used with the Youtube app.....you have to use the remote control and that could be slow and frustrating! I prefer to use the web browser for watching Youtube videos, the web browser Youtube page is the same as a PC and gives all the Youtube features. The only problem with the web browser is that every other video that I am trying to watch the web browser shuts down and gives an error message of not enough memory and I have to restart the web browser....THIS IS VERY ANNOYING!! There are a few times I wanted to throw the keyboard at the TV...lol!!! The TV definitely needs more memory for basic functions!!!! When it does work properly it is a great experience and very enjoyable....it seems as though samsung needed a little bit more development bfore releasing this TV.

Comment:
The first time we saw this model was at a friend's house. We watched The Hangover and it was as though we had never seen the movie before. We went out and got one within the next couple of weeks. We are still amazed at the picture even after a year. It is as though we are watching the filming of the movies we watch or sitting in the studio of the local newscast.

Comment:
The sound is very good but I purchased the Samsung sound bar and it sounds better then being at the movies. The subwoofer allows you to plug the cable box and the 3D player directly into it for less cables. I only need one HDMI cable run to the tv. My previous HD tv was very blury but with the better backlighting on this tv it is never blury. If you are buying a tv look no further and spend the extra couple of dollars and purchase this one.
