Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I am not an avid cook, therefore when I do cook, I don't like a lot of cleanup. These are the best pans I have ever used. Only need very little oil when frying because food very rarely sticks. When it does, it because of the cook, NOT the cookware!! No matter what I have made, it only takes a swipe of the dishcloth to get out any residue. My aunt has had a set for over a year and she cooks quite often. We have had NO problem at all with the coating coming off and they perform as well today as the day she got them.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I bought the fry pans over a year ago from QVC and as many other people have said they worked great. I did follow all the manufacturer's suggestions such as seasoning, hand washing, no metal utensils and after about 3 months they started to lose their nonstick ability and discolored and now are much worse than my older Cuisinart nonstick frypans which luckily I kept. Even after soaking in hot water for hours still very hard to clean either from browning meat or frying eggs.

Unfortuneately shortly afterwards I purchased 2 saucepans and their "Hot Pot" (dutch oven). The Hot Pot chipped within the first few weeks and I have no idea how that happened. The sauce pans are still okay (but never used to fry stuff or over high heat except to boil water). The Hot Pot does seem to boil water quicker than most and stays hot in the melamine server.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

These pans worked initially then went downhill fast. We only used them as the manufacturer recommended then food began to stick horribly. The surfaces became discolored and never worked well after the first couple months.

Put it this way, they have a lifetime warranty and we're not even sending them back to get new ones because we were so disappointed with their performance. Avoid!!

I'm not quite sure how CR recommends them unless the tests don't evaluate prolonged use.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

We have had zero problems with this greenpan cookware. The only downside is it's not diswasher safe, but none of our high-quality stuff is (ie. good knives). The reviewer "CSC" said it best. Follow directions and not much sticks and they clean easily.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I own 7 or 8 of the pieces and wouldn't trade them for anything. They are extremely easy to clean if you simply follow the instructions that come with the cookware. Preheat the skillets before adding anything and deglaze after cooking and they really do wipe clean with a paper towel. I've used them for over a year and highly recommend them.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I have an 8" saute pan that I have had for over 2 years. It is important to wipe out the pan immediately after each use. It also helps to occasionally clean it with a "magic eraser." This seems to smooth the finish and rejuvenate the non-stick properties. For especially sticky foods, I heat the pan and add a bit of non-stick oil spray.

What is important is that these pans cans be safely heated to 850 degrees, without fear of noxious gases. They also do not chip or peel.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

We bought this pan desiring to find one that is non-stick and not dangerous to our health. Perhaps this pan lives up to being healthy, but everything sticks to it! It is extremely hard to clean. It is unimaginable that this pan made the recommended list.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I was very happy with the environmental claims from the manufacturer, and these pans were great at first, especially for omelettes -- I told everyone to get a set. Very quickly, however (within 3 months!), both the bottoms and interiors deteriorated. The bottom surface became sticky to the touch, and now I can't get eggs out of the pan interiors without soaking for hours. Even a stainless steel (nonstick) pan would be better. Please know that I followed the directions precisely for seasoning and cleaning and have used only soft teflon utensils. Also, the handles on the lids get very hot and I have burned myself several times. I do not recommend.

Food sticks after awhile

Cons:
Food sticks over time
Describe Yourself:
Avid Cook

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

Pans work great at first. After a few uses, though, both skillets have lost their non-stick properties. Once this happened, they started to discolor and the food sticks to the pan horribly, even using lots of oil (which I could do in a stainless steel pan). I gave away a new set of Emeril pans to purchase these since they were supposed to be a better pan. The mfgr did replace the 1st pan with no trouble or work on my part. The 2nd pan just started to stick; I haven't requested a replacement yet, but, per their CS, I may have to go to the expense and trouble to send back other pans to get a replacement. Who wants to keep replacing pans?

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I love these pans. Although I always use a bit of butter or oil in the pans for flavor, nothing sticks, not even egg white omelets. I bake in them too. I think that seasoning them is important as well as a good clean-up to remove any residue that might cause sticking.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I liked the GreenPan the first month or so we owned it. After that the coating started pitting even though metal utensils were never used and it was always hand washed. As the pitting grew worse food started sticking more. I have had very cheap non-stick pans last much longer.

Bought this as an alternative to a more expensive all-clad pan. Was great for about two months. Then pits in the coating, discoloration and sticking problems. No metal utensils were ever used and hand washed. I have had cheap bargin store pans last better.

I have used my 12"fry pan about 10 times and follow the rules for cleaning(no dishwasher)I let them cool off,I allways let it soak so I would never have to put any muscle into cleaning it I use certified plastic utensils.I have only cooked eggs, ham, sausage, allready cooked bacon and recently french toast which left a burn stain in the bottom of the pan that is noticeable. The pans do clean up nice, easy but I am going back to dupont tefflon these pans are not worth the money I paid.I hope its not to late to get tefflon pans somewhere.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

Initially I bought two pans to see how they would do. I loved them, so I bought the larger set of pots and pans with lids. The only reason I didn't give this cookware five stars is the smallest fry pan's handle gets hot. I am not sure why it has a problem, the other pots and pans are fine. I have a gas stove and the cookware heats evenly. I ONLY use wooden spoons or plastic heat-resistant spatulas when I cook. I rinse the pans before I place them in the dishwasher. One time my husband made scrambled eggs and poured the eggs straight into the small pan while it was hot without any butter and it was hard to clean, but it did clean up. Just a little elbow grease with a soapy dishcloth. Sometimes food cooks to the metal interior (where the handle is attached to the pan) but I just wipe it off with a wet cloth. None of us have noticed that our food tastes funny (soapy residue). Honestly, I haven't had the problems like the other reviewers. I use it almost daily. I am currently looking for a set for my daughter who is getting married- [...], where I bought mine, no longer carries it.

Everything Sticks like glue

Food sticks, Not durable, Scratches Easily, Tough To Clean, Uneven Heating
Describe Yourself:
Casual Cook
How long have you owned it:
More than six months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I own both the frypan and wok. Both worked great for about 20 uses and scratched very easily, inside and out. That would be tolerable, but now everything sticks even with copious amounts of oil. The pans heat fast but unevenly on gas cooktop. Sticking is now so bad after approx. 50 uses they are trash. Beware of these products that throw the "green" label on everything just to sell them. All the energy used to manufacture and sell this product is a waste because they do not perform.

Best Uses:
Short term use
Describe Yourself:

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I loved these pans when I first got them but that quickly faded as everything started to stick. Even sauteing vegetables caused a brown spot in the bottom of the pan. I also have used only wood or silicone utensils and used the pans as instructed. By now I've thrown half of them away because I could not clean them any more. Don't waste your money. I'm very dissapointed with the rating here from the test kitchen. These pans are great for about a month then you can throw them away.

Describe Yourself:

How long have you owned it:

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

These pans have been our worst purchase. Everything seems to stick to these pans unless you use quite a bit of cooking spray or oil. The pans have lost their finish and have stained over the last year that we have owned them, and with only using plastic or wood utensils. In addition, the handles retain water so you have to drain the water out before you put them away.

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

(First, I only gave these a star since the system insisted I had to. These do not deserve a star since I did not plan on disposable cookware.) Funny, I bought these months ago without checking CR. I was only here looking for a replacement recommendation. To my shock I see these are a BB. I thought you should know my experiences and disappointments. I bought two sets of these. I bought one in the early spring and one in the summer. I loved them at first, things slid around, needed no oils and they looked clean when you removed the food. I really loved that there is less of a health concern. You cannot beat how fast they heat up. I guess some things are @ good 2 B true. In time, everything stuck. I even tried just cooking on the lowest setting (though I never needed the high). Oh, did they ever get stained! Some even warped. Oh, the lid handles can get too hot. Soon I tried a slight oiling, then more. In just a couple of months things stuck unless I used lots, too much, oils/butter and that defeated the purpose/purchase. And, unlike others, I never cooked anything in them w intentions of burning nor anything sweet (sticky sweet). I was down to soaking for days, so we tried DW'ing to no avail. In the DW, they take in water (new eco DW). I would find puddles in the cabinets & or on the cook-top. It was so weird. The rivet area was leaking. I learned to try and drain them first. My 12" skillet warped the worst so it cooks so unevenly. I used to love these, now, I hate them. BTW, I only used silicon utensils. This cookware set is a constant reminder of a waste of my time, money and that killer frustration. I called the seller; they said these have a LLW. I was told to contact the manufacturer. They have not returned the numerous calls and it's been months. I hate that I they worked so well in the beginning since that is the only reason I gave away my old cookware and now these are worst. They are stained, scratched, warped and ineffective (with everything sticking). So, again, here I was hoping CR could make some recommendations. I will leave you with this as I hunt for something better. These are going in the garbage; I would not even donate them. In these times I have no interest in overspending again; I guess I will have to check for reviews elsewhere too. Good Luck!

Excellent so far
By Sibewill from White Plains, NY on 8/31/2009
Pros:
Attractive, Easy clean-up, Even heat, Non stick
Cons:
unknown
How long have you owned it:
A month or less
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about GreenPan With Thermolon:

I have the small and large pans. Cooked food slides right off, leaving virtually no residue even without using cooking spray or butter. I cooked down a very sticky sauce with beef and it essentially baked onto the pan. Cleanup was one extra 2 minute soak and it was good as new.
The only thing that remains is to see how long they perform this well. If they last, I would add the 5th star.
