First Look: Dunkin’ Donuts cookies
Price we paid: $1.35 apiece
Dunkin' Donuts just came out with a new indulgence: freshly baked cookies. Our taste-testers tried three varieties from several
stores.
Chocolate Chunk. Don't toss out the Toll House recipe. Although soft and chewy, these cookies tasted similar to commercial raw cookie dough.
Oatmeal Raisin. Yum. Soft and slightly chewy with raisins, brown sugar, oats, and sweet brown spices, this one tastes homemade.
Peanut Butter Cup. Nirvana. Tons of peanut butter flavor with milk chocolate chips and chunks. It was soft, chewy, and tasted homemade.
And now for the bad news. The Dunkin' Donuts Web site says the cookies have 480 to 590 calories--per cookie. Fat ranges from
14g for the Oatmeal Raisin to a whopping 29g for the Peanut Butter Cup, including 7g to 13g of saturated fat. And one cookie
contains 1/4 cup of sugar. Basic doughnuts have far less.
On the bright side, the cookies have none of the artery-clogging trans fats that Dunkin' Donuts contain.
Either way, if you're craving a sweet treat, a little goes a long way.
