Both of the F-150's engines, the 5.0-liter V8 and V6 turbo, make this truck quick. With either powertrain, the F-150 became a bit quieter and more refined. Both engines delivered 15 mpg overall. The crew-cab version is very roomy, but the step-in is high. Handling is still clumsy but secure enough. The formerly stiff, busy ride has been improved and is now more tolerable. Towing and hauling are very capable, but the capacities of our tested trucks aren't class-leading. The integrated tailgate step is a nice option. Crash-test results are impressive, and reliability has been average.
