Don't Buy Norelco!

Comment:
When I bought this razor, it seemed a good deal and it did work great until I had it a year and changed the shave head. Norelco discontinued the original shave head and replaced it with a horrible cheaply made (but not priced) head which makes the razor unusable. If you buy one of these, you will be stuck with an expansive handle after a year.

Comment:
Ihave used Norelco old model for 15 years. Decided to try this one and it is by far the quietest cleanest dry shave I could imagine. It can be used with preshave but I find it works even
better dry for my light whiskers. Totally recommend it!

Prior to purchasing this model I had the James Bond Model 8895XL for 14 years. Instead of spending a little to replace the shaving heads I decided to upgrade.

This shaver shaves closer than the old one but that's where the advantages stop. My old razor's only short coming was the 'trimmer'. I assumed they would improve this feature, but they made it worse. All I need it to do is occasionally trim my side burns and get the hair off my ears. It barely gets the sideburns and is useless around the ears. In my opinion, this shaver's trimmer functions just enough to say it has a trimmer.

At almost triple the cost of other replacement heads, I'm sorry I sold my 8895. Ask yourself this, if you had a coupon or the shaver was on sale at 50% off; would you buy a new one or just replace the heads?

Finally, 2 of 3 shaver heads failed at 6 months. I don't know what happened. I shaved one night without issue and the next morning it slightly scratched my face leaving a faint blood trail. Upon close inspection, the shaver heads had holes where the blades appear to have broke or pushed the metal up leaving a sharp edge in one spot.

Phillips customer service was terrific. Although they initially sent the wrong replacement blades, eventually they sent an entire new unit.

I really like the smooth shave but the cost of replacement blades is such that I now consider this a disposable unit:(
