Comment:
I have used this helmet for last 3 years and it saved my life when I had an accident and landed on my head. It did not disintegrate. After that I had a short memory loss for a day, but then recovered and had no serious consequences.
I use this helmet to ride to work regularly and find it comfortable. The only drawbacks are perhaps these: when it is hot and you ride uphill, it lacks a bit ventilation. I had no problems with bees, but it would be nice to have a fly net.
And last thing I noticed when I rode fast on a bad wavy gravel road, the helmet shook on my head, but this may be due to wear, as I still use it after an accident, and should change it anyway.

Comment:
I just bought the latest model. It comes with a new design, the TriFix buckle that only allows adjustment under the chin rather than on both sides. Have the dealer go over it with you. I have heard reasons why its safer and why it may not be. I hope Consumer Reports will update their ratings and try it out.

Comment:
I was chased by a dog in my new neighborhood and Crashed head first on a concrete sidewalk. My helmet literally shattered inside and a piece from the corner right side chipped off. It was a horrible fall according to my witness, a few scrapes from my hands and knee and an abrassion on my right cheek that was it. My melon is intact, the echelon did more than an excellent job, it absorbed all the impact from my fall. I am buying another one, actually three now I am replacing my sister and my son's helmet with another echelon.
