Comment:
In training for my first half-marathon, I wanted a GPS watch that would be easy to read and was HRM capable. I have poor vision and sweat so much that wearing glasses is problematic. The Nike is, of all of the watches I looked at, the most readable by far. It also does all I need it to in terms of function and features. I purchased the Polar Nike+ HRM chest strap and it works flawlessly.

My experience with the GPS has also been very good. Generally, it takes less than a minute to link--sometimes less than 30 seconds. As has been suggested on other sites, if you plug the watch into your computer it will update your GPS location from your network info and improve the GPS link time.

I understand that this watch may not have every possible option and for hardcore runners is not feature rich enough, but for me, it does all that I could want.

Additionally, the Nike + website and Android app are great to keep you motivated to run. There are some issues with the website and app, but overall, they are a great addition. In fact, before buying any GPS watch, I'd suggest visiting the respective manufacturer sites and looking at what is available.

Comment:
It's a very well built watch. I recommend it fully. It is a very neat little watch especially when you plug it in to the computer. It's neat to get down to the specifics of running/jogging/walking. Especially if you are training for a 5k, 10k, half marathon, or even a marathon. It's a great watch and I recommend it fully!

Comment:
I've been training for and running Marathons for 4 years. My training program involves interval training of run/walk cycles. For example, you might run for 5 minutes then walk for a minute, etc.

While running, it is critical that you check the chrono function at each mile (or half mile) marker, as well as pay attention to your intervals. Run when the watch beeps at you. Walk when the watch beeps at you.

My inexpensive Timex Ironman watch allows me to operate both functions at once, chrono runs independently of the interval timer. I can easily shift back and forth to check my time and my interval cycle.

While the Nike watch is a beautiful design (right up there with iPhone) is easy to read and, relatively, easy to program, it is not functional for people who use the interval method for distance training.

The Nike watch requires that you select EITHER chrono function OR interval function. You cannot have both running at once.

Another problem is the ability to change the interval setting. Sometimes, when our running group meets early in the morning we will decide to alter our interval cycles for the day. Maybe we will run 6:1 instead of 5:1.

Those with simple Timex Ironman watches can change their interval setting right there, on the spot, with about 3 clicks.

Those of us with fancy Nike + GPS watches are simply out of luck. You cannot change the interval setting of the watch without connecting it to your laptop.

This is just silly. I expect more from Nike. The watch it beautiful Comfortable and easy to read but if you ask me, not very functional.

I've written to Nike and talked to sympathetic customer service people twice and they say they totally get it and that Nike is always working to improve their products and appreciate the feedback.

When the watch was first released, there were so many returns that the VP of Marketing sent a mass email apologizing for releasing a product that had so many bugs.

Just recently, a new firmware update was released. I hoped this had addressed my problems. If so, I was all ready to run out and buy one. Unfortunately, neither of these two issues have been fixed.

If you don't participate in interval training - it's a great watch.

If you are an interval trainer - take a pass on this watch. Don't let its good looks fool you.
