I ordered the Elite 9700 Pro for the decline, Wi-Fi, and iFit functions. In addition, I am a sturdy person weighing 250 lbs. and wanted a treadmill that could handle my weight.

The treadmill arrived via white-glove service, mainly because I wanted it set up for me in case something was wrong with it. The crew set it up quickly and efficiently. Although heavy, it wouldn't be difficult to do with help, 7 or 8 bolts and connecting the console is about it. They turned it on, calibrated the incline and decline, and deemed it working. Before I signed the ticket, I hooked it up to my Wi-Fi just to make sure. It appeared to connect with no trouble.

As it turns out, however, I signed a bit pre-mature. While hooked up to the Wi-Fi, I was unable to control the machine. I would enter the manual mode and press a speed which it would accept, then the machine would lock up. The only thing it would respond to was pulling off the magnetic safety clip to shut the belt down. I would then have to power cycle the machine (turn off, unplug for a couple minutes, then reverse) before it would start again. This happened several times. Keep in mind; this only happened when it was connected via Wi-Fi. Turning the Wi-Fi connection off would allow the machine would respond normally. As the iFit via Wi-Fi was one of my reasons for purchasing, this is a deal-breaker for me.

I contacted customer service, and I have to give them props, they really tried to help. He had me update the firmware, reboot my router, reset my router to factory defaults, and even asked me to turn off my security codes to my wireless network to troubleshoot, which I did for those purposes only. This was all to no avail. He was very polite, and we were on the phone for close to 2 hours attempting to resolve the problem. I was getting frustrated, but he remained apologetic, sincere, and helpful at the same time. In the end, he advised me to contact the return department on Monday, and decide what I wanted. He did indicate this is a rare, albeit known issue that the technical department has been unable to duplicate. Just my luck to have it happen to the machine I received.

Turning off the Wi-Fi, I did take a run this evening for about 35 minutes. Roughly 10 minutes into the run, a rattling sound from the rear of the machine began. It sounded like a roller was clanking against something. As soon as I would step onto the sides, it would stop, but started again when I stepped back on the belt. My wife even came in from another part of the house to see what the racket was, and I had the door shut where I was running. It was very loud and annoying. It is probably something that could be easily fixed, but it bummed me out as this machine has only been in my house for roughly 30 hours.

I really want to like this machine, but so far, I cannot. Justin, the technical customer service representative, however, deserves my thanks for a sincere effort to help.
