Comment:
I have recently gone back to the UltraSmart after testing several other meters. It is disheartening to learn that Lifescan has stopped making the meter altho it continues to service the U/S. Consumer demand is a prime factor in the company's decision. However, the Nano, Contour, and others that I have checked do not have the medications (insulin) feature which is vital to the Type 1.

Comment:
I obtained this meter when first diagnosed with diabetes 5 years ago. The Ultrasmart unit was rated high in accuracy, which I needed the most. My levels would swing from 95-400 in just a day or two so I needed to track my activities, meals, time of day, health conditions, etc...to try and understand what made my body react the way it did. When extra data is needed, in order to try an find out why the glucose levels swing like they do, this is a more helpful tool than just a general meter unless one keeps a detailed diary. One cannot enter specific food items, but one can enter before or after meals or medicine intake.
