Comment:
It holds the test strip in position ready to be inserted. After pricking, push the strip in and wait a few seconds for calibration to finish, then apply sample. I checked my meter twice against a laboratory test where I did a reading almost immediately after my sample was drawn. Once it read 130 when the lab said 118, the other was 124 when the lab said 124. So the accuracy can be good but I wonder if I can depend on it. I would be very interested in what Consumer Reports actual test data looked like on the various instruments, not just a good or excellent.

Comment:
I have been using this product for over a year and was recently given a Freestyle Freedom Lite by my doctor. I was very dismayed to discover an almost 50mg/dl variance in the two meters when testing at the same time. This one was always much higher. Since I have just begun taking insulin and am on a sliding scale, I was unsure which number to rely on. I went to the pharmacy where I purchased it and was told the control solution was no longer available for this model. Although inexpensive, it is imperative that I have accurate readings, so I will have to use a different meter.
