Keeps BG monitoring simple. Strips are readily available and economical. No fancy graphs or trends programs--just the results. Display is easy to read. The only suggestion I would make would be to add a contrasting colored mark at the place where the bg strip is inserted into the meter.

Blood Glucose Monitoring
This monitor requires less blood per test than some other devices, which lowers the number of error readings and wasted test strips. It also has a backlit screen and an audible beep indicating that the test is complete. (You can also set an alarm for excessively high or low readings, and can set those numbers to whatever you and your doctor determine.) Changing the date and time is easy, and the device itself stores lots and lots of readings. This device even averages morning, noon and evening readings, so yoiu can get an indication of trends in your blood glucose levels. There are small rubber pads on the bottom of the monitor to make it stable and secure when set on a flat surface. On a completely superficial note, the cute rectangular shape and shiny red color of the case appeal to my aesthetic side.

The lancet device which came with the meter never worked -- when I loaded a new lancet, the needle stuck out even when the device was readied for use and the needle was supposed to be retracted into the case. Target sells a different lancet device over the counter, with a flat round end which you pull up to ready the device, and that one is much easier to use and to switch out the individual lancets. It is an additional cost, but I found it necessary in order to have a complete testing kit.

Best Uses
I pay for my supplies myself so the price is an important consideration. I noted that an earlier review had a problem with the pharmacy staff, not the product. The one I visit is very good. The only drawback I've experienced is the cost of the control solution, which seems to be a problem with all meters.
