Comment:
The biggest feature is that this meter will test a minute blood sample which is great for minimal lancing. I can get by with a 1 or 2 (out of 4) lancet poke. The other feature is I can leave the meter in the convenient zippered case for testing. I have the testing strip slot facing out toward the zipper and with the clear retaining band you can easily read the result so there is no need to remove the meter. When done I remove the used test strip and zip the case. There is also a handy mesh pocket for lancets and another band to retain the lancing device. The readings are quick and very accurate. Still have the original battery in the unit over 1 year ago. I only test once a day currently. Received meter free from my family doctor.

Comment:
This is the only one I have used. I got it in May, 2010 and have changed the battery only once. I also have the PC link which is an extra cost ($30).

It is relatively easy to use and is very portable. The instructions for accessing the clock and inner workings are a bit vague.
Downloading the data to Abbott's logging application is relatively easy. The test trip supplier needs test logs every 6 months.

The test strips are very reliable. Only a very few have failed to work which may have been my error by contamination prior to test.
