This mattress is price controlled which reflects the region in which its sold. Also double check the price as to whether it reflects the mattress or the set. Because they are price controlled, you can negotiate free delivery and free haul away of an old mattress from most retailers. Also you should be able to negotiate up to $300 credit towards in-kind items such as mattress pad, pillows, headboard, frame, etc... to be bundled with the purchase.Other retailers will offer a gift card for $300 toward the purchase of other goods from their store.

Its a very firm mattress, but comfortable. I have yet to experience the sagging, but the warranty is very comprehensive. My experience has been that most reputable retailers or when buying directly from Serta (on-line), will make good on a warranty. Make sure to register your mattress once you decide to keep it.

Read the warranty (25yr), you must use a good mattress pad/protector to avoid staining/soiling the mattress, otherwise the warranty is void.

This iSeries Applause was replaced by the iSeries Vantage, and maybe some of the characteristics were changed. We replaced our 10 year old Simmons king pillow top that had gotten lumpy and too soft. My wife is a 56 year old large woman, and I am a 68 year old slender man. We purchased the mattress at Sears and got it for a good price. We bought it because it was highly rated, it felt comfortable to me in the store, it supposedly minimized transfer of movement, and we were willing to pay more for a quality mattress. My wife is disabled so she could not shop with me. It was recommended that we try it for a couple of weeks so our bodies could adjust to it. Although we have only slept on it three nights, neither one of us has been able to sleep well. We are both waking up with backaches, and I can't get comfortable sleeping on my side or back. We keep our bedroom at 60 degrees in the winter. Granted, memory foam tends to feel firmer at cooler temperatures, but I am not sure how much of a trial we are willing to give the mattress before exchanging it for another one within the comfort guarantee period. I am hoping that we can get used to it, since our local Sears closed and I have to travel 25 miles to the next closest store to test other models that may have a lower rating, or not rated at all.

Salesman recommended the Vantage Plush for my pressure point (hip) pain. Mattress is comfy at first, but you sink in and the mattress envelops you during the night and does seem to sleep hot. Returned it for the Vantage Firm which seems to sleep a bit cooler, but after the first night hip pain returned. Will give it the 30 day trial and hopefully won't develop the cavity other reviews have mentioned. Price point is good for the qualilty and name brand.
