We have used an entry-level Tempurpedic mattress as our primary mattress for the past 7 years. Our experience has been mixed, but in retrospect we feel it did not live up to the manufacturer's portrayed image. We are also disappointed with the lack of durability of the bed.

When we just got the mattress, it emitted a very strong solvent smell. Tempurpedic said it was normal and harmless, but it was a bad smell which required us to keep the bedroom windows open for a couple of weeks. Not a huge deal here in Southern California, but keep this in mind if you live in a hot or cold climate.

The mattress has always been quite warm to sleep in. My wife likes that, but I find it uncomfortable.

After only about 3 years, the included box springs started squeaking every time I move on the bed.

The first few years the mattress was fairly supportive, however, after about 5 years the mattress developed a cavity on my side. In that time it also developed a clear ridge between the two sides of the mattress.

Lately, it feels like the mattress has lost all ability to support me. We rotated the mattress, so the cavity is by my wife's feet, but now she wakes up feeling uncomfortable and I wake up with back aches.

I am a side sleeper and the last few weeks, even after rotating the mattress, I wake up several times a night with a tingling sensation in my hand as a result of pinched nerves because my shoulder is in a bad position. This is due to the mattress not (or no longer) conforming to my body as the manufacturer advertises.

Overall, I found the experience below expectations for a premium brand.

Comment:
Over priced as are all their products. I also bought the adjustable bed frame with the vibration. Waste of money. Waste. Too noisy. No feeling at all when the vibration is turned on, just noisy.

Comment:
Shopped around. Did our research. Stuck with a very expensive bed which is the most uncomfortable we have ever had. Floor model could not be returned. Tried adding an expensive topper. Still too hard. Added an additional foam topper. With 2 toppers, it is still uncomfortable. We have back problems, joint pain. Increased pain.
