A Great toilet at any price

Pros
Flush Is Powerful
Cons

Comment:
I purchased this toilet to replace a 7 year old American Standard one piece unit. This in 100 times better than the American Standard. It is very quiet when it refills and the flush force is incredible. I've never had to flush more than once and the bowl stays clean. I used the seat I had purchased for the old toilet since this was better quality than the new one. I don't usually buy cheaper products but this quality is GREAT. I'm glad I checked CR.

Comment:
After much research, and budget considerations, I decided to have one of these installed in our master bathroom. It is far and away the best toilet I have ever used! It replaced a power-flush Gerber that would occasionally clog requiring several flushes and often remained dirty even with a successful single flush. This toilet has performed flawlessly and has yet to even think about clogging even with aggressive use of Charmin. It flushes much cleaner, too. Even with the quick flushing versus holding down the handle for a few extra moments.

As noted by other reviewers, the stock toilet seat is not the greatest so we updated the seat when we got it. Also, the wax seal that it comes with is thin. Since I had the unit professionally installed, they used a jumbo ring which was about twice as thick. The toilet tank bolts for my unit were metal and the tank is very secure.

Comment:
I purchased this toilet in January 2014. I replaced a early 1980s American Standard Cadet with this toilet while renovating one of our bathrooms. This is so much better than the old one. It uses less water and is quieter, but also flushes and clears the bowl's contents more reliably than the old one did.

Mine did not have the problem of the tank rocking back and forth. I don't know if this is something that has been fixed in production, or if I was just lucky.

It came with one wax ring, but I ended up having to use two wax rings because the flange was at floor level, not slightly above floor level. I wouldn't user the steel flange bolts supplied with the toilet because they will rust, get brass ones either by themselves, or get a wax ring with bolts included.

Also, the seat is cheap and flexes. A replacement wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm so pleased with this that after one of my other old toilets had the seat break, I'm considering replacing the whole toilet with one of these. Life's too short to sit on a small, low, loud, water wasting toilet, when you can have a real throne.
