Comment:
I was skeptical of going to low flow, but it works well. Bought this toilet based on CR review and availability at local Home Depot/Lowes. The model name matches this review, but the price was about $260. I almost didnt buy it due to the noise rating, but figured with the high ratings for waste removal and cleaning it would be worth the trade off. After installation, I would not consider the toilet noisy, and think CR should upgrade the noise rating. The toilet lets out a kind of glug noise for about 1 second, no big deal.

Comment:
We needed to replace 2 toilets that were over 25 years old. After reviewing CR, we went to Lowes with the intent of buying the top-rated American Standard. But, we wanted a bone/beige colored unit. For nearly triple the price we could get the American Standard...we passed on it. So we looked at the Kohler Highline Classic, which came in both white and biscuit color. And it was on sale...Sold!

The toilet was easy to install (less than an hour start to finish). I was very surprised, expecting a VERY loud flushing noise, considering the solid black ball for this category by CR. The flushing action took about 3 seconds, with about 1 second of that with some noise. However, it wasn't that bad. In fact when using the toilet at night, we don't wake each other up. I think CR should reconsider rating the noise on this unit as average.

The one thing to consider is purchasing a high quality wax ring. One came with it, but it wasn't very good. Also consider purchasing a stainless steel water line when installing the unit (bursting washer and toilet water lines is the #1 cause of water damage in homes).

We love our 2 Highlines
5/1/2012
Pros
Comfortable height
Quick clean flush
Tolerable flush noise
Cons
Longer than old toilet
Best Uses
Sufficient space needed
Comment:
Both Highlines we installed are upstairs near bedrooms. They have fantastic flush power, flush cleanly and seldom need brushing. The flush noise is not quiet, but is over in an instant and the filling action is quiet. Nice looking and comfortable height, however, if you have limited space from front to back you should take measurements. The throw rug that once fit between the toilet and shower no longer fits that space.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
