We wished we'd used this and are writing this review to warn anyone considering one of the competitors, Knotwood Aluminium (Aluminum)which IS NOT suitable at all for decking. It might be fine for siding or privacy partitions but you will regret putting in as a flooring surface. It scratches very easily and can not be repaired or touched-up. Scratching easily means it scratches when walking in shoes other than sneakers or if your sneaker has grit in it, sweeping, moving furniture or pets. Who doesn't slide a chair on a deck? I've contacted the company for touch-up paint which they state is available and they haven't responded.

We were shipped factory seconds, that is, the base paint or primer, which is bright yellow was visible in all the channels of the board. They had not been properly wood-grained. Therefore, it could not be installed properly with a gap between the boards for drainage but the boards had to be butted together. This not only makes the surface looks artificial, it is very slippery in rain or with snow on the deck.

The company, Knotwood Aluminium and the actual manufacturer, Ullrich, refused to accept any responsibility and first tried to blame it on the shipper but then changed and repeatedly just said they were sorry we had to make a design change.

I also purchased a railing /glass system. Paint flaked of the railing in one year. This did not happen with the decking 10 years and going strong.

My contractor and I are impressed by this deck. Installation was easy and fast on plywood decking with a water barrier. The canal and groove design make it water tight. Strong enough for furniture, high-heeled shoes and hailstorms. We used it to add a balcony on top of a porch cover. The only problem was that we needed to improvise connecting it water tight to the wood board siding of the house.

We also order a Nexan picket railing system. Their design team was very helpful. Installation came with a modest learning curve. The railing is very sturdy. Getting deck and railing delivered, however, took almost 3 weeks.

Combination of LockDry deck and railing looks clean and professional. I expect it to last for decades with only minor maintenance like re-caulking seams towards the house.

I wished the LockDry design would also come in a cheaper no-traffic version. Then I would use it immediately to cover flat sections of my house's roof.
