Awesome Oak Floors
Apppalachian hardwood
Beautiful finish
Excellent quality milling
FSC Certified
Oak-low jenka score
Best Uses
We installed Mullican St Andrews Oak Gunstock 3and 5 planks. This matched the existing oak floor, perfectly. The quality of the hardwood is top notch. Even and beautiful finish. For me, it was very attractive by the fact that it was all sourced in US. The hardwood is FSC certified and Appalichian Sustainable Hardwood. It is milled in US. This met all my criteria for going green. Though, we seriously considered strand woven bamboo, for its hardness and as green product. The local sourcing and milling, won the day over milling and manufacturing the starnd woven bamboo in China( the brand we were looking at). There were 1 or 2 planks that were not milled perfectly, so minimal waste. The installer probably wasted a plank or two with improper nailing, so least amount of waste overall. I do not worry about longevity, there are houses all over US, hundreds of years old with beautiful oak floors. BTW, bought the flooring online for much less $$$ compared to local stores. We installed this in all the rooms downstairs, about 500Sq ft. We will be installing the same product upstairs bed room too, in the near future.<br />One down side, it much less dense than a woven strand bamboo, so can dent and scratch easily than more dense hardwood and strand woven bamboo. But again, we are very happy with the existing beautiful floors that are more than 15 years old and see lot of traffic and still maintain their looks very well. So I would not obsess over the Jenka hardness scale alone!
