Happy with performance and quality

Cons

Best Uses
Kitchen recessed lights
Comment:
I have older CFL flood lights in my kitchen and it takes a long time for them to reach full output which can be annoying especially in the morning when it is dark. I have replaced one of the CFL's with this LED bulb and in a second it reaches near full intensity. I have this bulb positioned over the area where I make coffee first thing in the morning and it is great. At about $30 each at Home Depot I cannot replace all of the bulbs but as they die I will look to replace them with this bulb.

Comment:
I'm stunned that CR could give this flood light such a positive review. Yes, it is bright, and yes, it comes on with full brightness immediately.

But this is a flood light, and as such I should provide a fairly wide light radius. This bulb shines brightly, but directly down. My flood lights are about 4 feet apart, which is fairly standard, and this would require flood lights to be about 2 feet apart.

I'm extremely surprised that the experts at CR did not consider this at all when rating this product. I've tried to think of a place where I could use a bulb like this, and about the only place is over the landing on my staircase. Otherwise, a bright light that only shines directly downward is very limited.
