Not a self-primer; I had to prime myself

Pros
Color Matched Sample
Cons
Did Not Cover In One Coat

Comment:
I had medium green walls in the kitchen, not dark at all. This (Mushroom Bisque color) primer and paint requires a second coat. I love the color, so I primed the walls with leftover primer and lighter paint; otherwise I would've had to buy a second gallon of this color. Behr needs to fulfill their promises.

First of all I'm no paint expert.
Maybe this paint is the most durable and best paint??? maybe, however I had the ultra satin and it took me 2-3 coats. Thick paint and I question its ability to stick and cover while rolling paint. I did kitchen fine with regular satin. then came bathroom and livingroom/hallway in which I had a harder time. I still see little spots that didn't cover. maybe I was supposed to stir paint every so often. Maybe room temp was a little to cool at 61* approx. At least maybe the paint will last a very long time. The kitchen is holding out very good after a few years.

Comment:
We bought this paint after seeing the consumer report of paint testing. While we worried about some detracting reviews, we thought we should try it, based on the CR ratings. Our results confirm CR's experience.
While surface preparation is key to any good paint job, our dilemma was to cover a badly alligatored prior painted surface in our bathroom. This old layer of paint was put on over a surface that had just had wallpaper removed. While we thought the paste had been removed, we found as that paint was being applied there remained enough wallpaper paste to be somewhat problematic, with places the paste obviously interferred with the paint being applied. After 8 years in the high / low humudity cyclic bathroom, that surface became very much alligatored. The advice from the online references all said the best treatement was to strip off the alligatored paint completly; A job that would be about as difficult as removing the sheetrock and starting over. We sanded down the poor paint until it was very smooth and then applied this Behr Premium Plus Ultra Satin Enamel. It performed beautifully. The satin finish has virtually covered the checkered and cracked finish of the lower surface.
While we do not know what this will look like in five years and beyond, it is practically miraculous now. This paint's covering / hiding power is impressive. We are very optomistic about it's future. We had none of the application problems others have groaned about. We think that the old wallpaper paste problem is securely locked in the old, mostly removed, paint layer.
This is great paint, worthy of the high rating.
