Benjamin Moore has a network of 4,000 independent dealers who carry the brand, and has said that training and service are the key reasons why it hasn't entered the home-center channel. Comment:
I bought this paint based on the ratings here. I wish I had read first or I'd have avoided the SW Duration which was splotchy, covered poorly, and is so matte that it's hard to believe it qualifies as satin. The Aura paint corrected all those problems. It has the liquidity and spreadability of older higher VOC paints, but without the odor. This liquidity makes it very easy to spread and helps the paint level out on the wall nicely. We were painting over a light flat paint which soaked it up well. Otherwise I think we could have gotten away with a single coat. My only regret is that I would have bought their eggshell finish. This satin is much glossier than other paints labeled satin. Since we went with a dark color, it looks a bit plastic. In a light color it would be fine. That said, I expect it will be very durable and easy to clean up. (Duration satin has not been easy to clean despite their claims.)

I have been using Benjamin Moore for the 14 years I have lived in my old house. Prior to that I used Duron and Behr (hated the latter). I started using Aura as soon as it came out and I love it. It has very little smell and it covers really well. I have used every color under the rainbow including a very dark blue and a dark eggplant (I did use 2 coats). These can be tricky in the satin and eggshell finish because the paint dries very quickly so you need to roll it out in the same direction so you don't see the roller marks. the same goes with painting trim even with light colors, if you drag the brush over the same spot even a few minutes later you will see the marks so brush with enough paint the first time and then leave it alone and it will turn out great. I even used a foam roller with aura on my electrical box in the kitchen and it looks as smooth as if I had spray painted it. The paint stays true to its color. I had to touch up a few spots in my purple kitchen because my kid knocked some holes in the wall with our library ladder. You can't even tell the holes were touched up. The paint looks exactly the same.

All our interior walls were painted with Aura Satin over 4 years ago. When we have issues such as too many marks from smudges, scrapes from moving furniture, bumping into wall causing dents, changing pictures around. We just fill them in with spackle and paint over. The paint covers and matches. It shows like there was no event that took place. We love it.
