Shingles blow off easily

We purchased our house new in 2011. Shingles have blown off the roof on at least three occasions since. The first was during a bad storm, but the wind conditions were not extreme on the other two occasions and none of the houses nearby lost shingles. Our contractor says that they did not seal properly. Our builder is less than helpful.

never again TAMKO shingles

Our builder installed TAMKO shingles. This is an expensive home, around $275,000. Every spring when there is any wind at all, several sheets of shingles blow off. The first year, the builder restored them within warranty. The second year, I spent about $20 in postage and also hired a roofer to help send samples to TAMKO. The roofer said that the shingles did not have adequate sealant. TAMKO gave a song and dance about winds of a certain velocity in the area and that went beyond the shingles' warranty. Must not have been much of a warranty. No other shingles in my neighborhood fell off. The people on the phone I spoke with were downright rude. Probably I will be due a new roof sooner rather than later. Heaven knows I WILL NOT USE TAMKO SHINGLES EVER AGAIN. Class action suit, anyone?

I began noticing spotty granular loss after seven years. I have now had the shingles for 10 years, and I can see another total roofing job in my immediate future. As others have noted, the procedure for filing a warranty claim is so burdensome that it discourages all but the most intrepid; in particular, one must remove two shingles from the roof and send them in with a ton of other documentation. I will never purchase this product again.
