We used two coats of this product two years ago on all surfaces of a brand new treated-wood deck. I did the give the decking and top of the rail a superficial sanding first. Today the deck looks the same as it did the day we applied it. No pealing, fading or problem of any kind. We live in Indianapolis,IN and no part of the deck is shaded or protected from the weather. Even though the deck looks great, we seldom use it.

I used this product based on CR's review and was very disappointed. Our PT deck is 15 years old and had been previously sealed twice with other products and I never had a problem. I probably should have stuck with other brands but based on the CR review I thought I'd give Behr a try. Our deck does not get a lot of traffic but it does get direct sunlight so a new seal was due. The deck was prepped by power washing, dried thoroughly and then sanded lightly before applying product. After 6 months we noticed some areas already peeling but it was close to the end of the season so we waited until this year to see how the deck would fare. I did call the company last year to complain and they offered me more stain and a deck prep product of theirs. I would have preferred my money back and did ask but that was not the case. It is now 1 year later and at least ΒΌ of the deck has peeled. I can use a strong spray from a garden hose, not even a pressure sprayer, and have sections peel off easily. No way I am going to use Behr again.
